(April 1, 2005) Anna Paquin Ditches X3, For ROGUE Film!

Rumors had been buzzing around the next, that X-MEN film star Anna Paquin may not be
reprising her role in 2006's X-MEN 3. XMF can unfortunately confirm that news today...but fear
not! Paquin will not be leaving the franchise behind, fully! 20th Century Fox and Marvel Films
have just announced that they plan to move forward with their next X-MEN spin-off
film...ROGUE!
"I'm so crazy excited right now, hehe!" laughs Anna Paquin. "I never in a hundred years
thought that they'd make a film for my character alone, but I'm totally excited!"
20th Century Fox has put aside plans for their WOLVERINE spin-off to follow X3, in 2007, and
have instead decided that ROGUE should debut in May 2007...with SPIDER-MAN 3.
"ROGUE will appeal to a much different audience, than SPIDER-MAN" says executive
producer, Avi Arad. "We're aiming this film more towards the girls and sci-fi fans. It's going to
be a mix between X-MEN, AMERICAN PIE, CLUELESS, and MINORITY REPORT...really
interesting stuff" said Arad as he gave an enthusiastic thumbs up.
So what will the story be in ROGUE, and who's writing it? Sheldon Turner, who's currently
writing the serious spin-off drama, MAGNETO, will stop work on that film for ROGUE. "I'm so
excited...I can't breathe. I'm just going to put the MAGNETO film on hold, and work on the
southern bell." said Turner. "It's going to be great! We're going to put Rogue back in high
school, with human kids. She'll join the cheerleading squad, and battle against an evil,
super-powered villainess, called 'Cheers'.
20th Century Fox is already sending out casting call sheets for the other cast members. They
are already looking for "the next Tom Cruise" to play Rogue's love interest, and are searching
for "the next Paris Hilton" to play Rogue's snotty best friend.
The $105 million budgeted film is expected to start shooting sometime next year in New York
for it's 2007 release, and will be directed by newcomer, Mattieu April Fools.
