20th Century Fox's X-MEN 3 continues to move forward! We have learned (and we can exclusively confirm) that the ink has just barely dried on a contract, for ED VERREAUX to be the new production designer on the film! Unfortunately, this of course means that X2's production designer, Guy Dyas will not be returning. He's currently working on Bryan Singer's SUPERMAN RETURNS, and will then move on to working on Singer's other film, LOGAN'S RUN.
Verreaux will start production design for X3 this very week! This means that concept art, storyboards, and construction of the sets will begin in the near future! He will be using the current Simon Kinberg/Zak Penn script for the blueprints of what is needed.
Verreaux's previous production designer credits include MONSTER HOUSE, STARSKY & HUTCH, THE SCORPION KING, JURASSIC PARK 3, MISSION TO MARS, and CONTACT! His previous art director credits include HONEY I BLEW UP THE KID and CASPER, among others. His previous production ilustrator credits include RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK, and ET. He also was the assistant art director on BACK TO THE FUTURE 2/3.
The cast and crew will be headed north once more! Matthew Vaughn's X-MEN 3 is expected to start filming late July, in Vancouver (and possibly Toronto), for a May 26, 2006 release.
