| (05.03.05) Will The X-MEN Make Their May 26 Release? Who Knows!?! Source: An XMF Editorial The fans want to know! Will X-MEN 3 make it's May 2006 release date? While we cannot see into the future, it seems that production on X3 continues to be pushed back as the weeks go by. First they were to start in May 2005, and now the current status is at the beginning of August! Lets think about this. It took around six months to film X-MEN, and X2: X-MEN, and a little over four/ five months for post production work. With X3's current schedule, production is to run through December (about five months of filming), with post production getting about four/ five months. This could work, but...the problem doesn't connect itself to how long it'll take to film X3, and do special effect work. The problem is with how to get everything done before camera role...pre-production. Art concepts have only begun within the previous month. No new sets have been built. There's no costume designer, etc. There seems to be many things going against X3 at the moment. While the film is moving forward at a good pace, it still doesn't seem to be a realistic pace for a May 26 release. Yup...X3 is going to be rushed....unless.... We have been told us that X3 might get a July release, depending on how well the FANTASTIC FOUR film performs at the box-office this Summer. The producers and the studio know that there's good chance of X3 being pushed back. Yes they have brains, guys! Besides Star Wars, X3 is their baby. Their top money-making franchise. If the F4 perform above expectations in their July 8th spot, then we just might get the X-MEN for a July release...the only negative? SUPERMAN RETURNS, which will be release in late June. Maybe, just maybe WB will move Supes ahead to May. The film has been in production for a while now. Realisticly, they could take the May spot from the X-MEN, easily. They should switch the dates. Superman is filming on Fox's studios in Australia, so maybe they can work something out? We can only dream, can't we? July 4th weekend wouldn't be bad. We'll just have to see how things go with X3's pre-production. So, what will happen for our merry mutants? It's anybody's guess right now! |
