X-Men: The Last Stand continues to charge through post production, as various effect houses work on over 1000 FX shots for the film which releases this May worldwide. The release date is drawing closer and more info about the final film in the trilogy (note: this specific trilogy) rolls out. Here are the latest updates:
*Foster Talks X3's Angel: MTV got the chance to chat with Ben Foster about his role in X3! The actor was attending the Sundance Film Festival for his upcoming flick Alpha Dog. "The bulk of X-Men 3 has been shot." said Foster. "We're gonna be going back to do some re-shoots pretty soon, but the scenes that we've seen look spectacular."
Click here for lots more of what he had to say! Re-shoots and pick-up shots are planned to start up sometime next month, leading into early April in Vancouver, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and possibly other locations (further confirmations could not be reached in time for printing). Stay tuned to XMF for more info on that in the future.
*This Should Be A Kickbutt DVD: Though tons of cameos were filmed for X3, you must remember that all cameos shot won't neccessarily make it to the final cut. The film is being roughly edited right now, with the film editor's, along with director Brett Ratner.
20th Century Fox made sure to stress to us that a final casting list for the film has not been complete, and will not be complete until the final cut of the film, as some folks might not make the cut. There is also no officially released sypnosis for film just yet, so we'll have to stay tuned for that as well.
*The Official Movie Game: IGN Games has an exciting early look at the upcoming X-MEN movie-based video game! The game which will be available for virtually every new, recent gaming console will future Wolverine, Nightcrawler, Iceman, Colossus, and Multiple Man among others. Click here to read their report, including cool screen grabs, and concept art!
*Parents: No Need To Cover Their Ears: XMF Visitor RTJent met comic genious Stan Lee at a lecture series close to his hometown in Cincinnati, Ohio, and had this to say about his experience (minor spoilers):
First, Stan Lee was amazing. Hilarious. The crowd roared when he mentioned X3. He was asked about his cameos in films. He said he loved doing them, and heck, maybe he'd tell us about the cameo he shot. He said that he was watering the lawn in X3 when "a certain mutant with telekinetic powers walks by".
He said (paraphrasing): "The hose suddenly goes from pointing at the ground to pointing up here [to his face]. Then there's a shot of my face, and I say, 'What the...' but I don't finish!" It was hilarious. Certain TK mutant? Lawn? Totally Jean's neighborhood. I'm pumped, and Stan was amazing!
*Wizard Magazine: Make sure you pick up issue #174 of Wizard when it hits comic stores on February 22nd (on newsstands March 7th)! The issue will feature an exclusive report taken from when the folks visited the set of X3. Expect interviews with Hugh Jackman, Kelsey Grammer, Ian McKellen, director Brett Ratner, and exclusive photos!
*Where's The Official Images?: Though we cannot confirm exact dates, we were told that 20th Century Fox would officially be releasing some special artwork/ images to high traffic general media sites like Yahoo, and IGN, among others! Expect those either this month (hopefully), or next month. No word yet on when the official website will update with new photos. Stay tuned...
